Empowering People, Embracing Technology, and Building a Safer Tomorrow

Adani Wind, A manufacturing wing of Adani Group involved in Wind Turbine Generator (WTG) segment with a vision to become a leading global manufacturer and supplier of cutting-edge Blades, Nacelle, and Hub. It is at the forefront to support world wind industry in driving global transition towards renewable energy, a cleaner, greener future. Adani Wind has in its portfolio, the largest onshore WTG machine in India in terms of rated capacity i.e. 5.2 MW along with other models of 5.0MW 3 MW, 3.3 MW WTGs.

Safety stands as a fundamental principle at Adani Wind, reflected in the company’s unwavering commitment to its “Zero Harm – Zero Leak” policy. Guided by the group’s ethos of “Growth with Goodness,” organization emphasizes sustainable business practices. Creating a safe work environment, nurturing a culture of care, and prioritizing the well-being of its people are central to the organization’s values

Adani Wind was incorporated in 2021 and after product development and manufacturing facilities setting up, commenced serial production from 2023, marking a significant milestone in its journey. Establishing a robust safety system for a newly built facility—amid fresh talent, advanced technologies, and evolving challenges—was a major undertaking. Through unwavering dedication and a proactive approach, the team successfully navigated this phase, as reflected in the company’s strong Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) performance. The pursuit of excellence continues, with the business consistently striving for ongoing improvement and growth.

Adani Wind’s Success in Workplace Safety

Workplace safety is culture, a mindset and a shared responsibility. From the outset of operations- Safety has been driven by strategic planning, employee engagement, technological innovation, training and an unwavering commitment to protecting our most valuable asset: our people. Today, we take pride in success we have achieved on incident reduction and fostering a workplace where safety is embedded in every action and decision.

Our success began with a fundamental change in mindset. We moved away from reactive safety measures toward a proactive, prevention-focused culture. This transformation was driven by leadership commitment and employee involvement.

Initially, people’s safety alignment was a huge challenge. Strategical training and orientation help us to overcome this problem. The training, not just as a compliance exercise, but to influence and empower employees. It covers everything from hazard identification to risk management, Safe work procedure to emergency handling etc. By encouraging employees’ participation and feedback, we created a fear free environment. Digital reporting platforms makes this process very smooth and easy.

One of our most influential initiatives was the launch of the Safety Champions program, where employees from different departments were nominated by area to spearhead safety efforts within their respective teams.

Achieving excellence in workplace safety also meant embracing the power of data. Our digital reporting system enabled us to track trends, pinpoint areas needing attention, and apply focused corrective measures. The shift to digital tools transformed our safety processes, offering streamlined, tech-enabled solutions. Today, every issue is reported, monitored, and analyzed—fueling predictive insights that guide future improvements. This data-driven approach also supports informed decision-making through advanced analytics.

Virtual reality (VR) training has also revolutionized how we prepare employees for hazardous tasks. Instead of relying solely on classroom instruction, workers can now experience simulated scenarios—like EOT operation, material handling etc.—without any real-world risk. This immersive training has significantly enhanced confidence.

True safety success is rooted in collective effort. At its core, it relies on active employee involvement and collaboration. When teams contribute ideas and solutions from the ground level, it not only drives continuous improvement but also strengthens their sense of ownership, boosts confidence, and deepens their commitment to safety goals.

A monthly recognition initiative celebrates exceptional contributions to workplace safety. The Best Safety Ambassador is chosen each month for exemplary safety performance, while the employee with the most safety observations is also commended. Departments that consistently uphold safe zones following the 5S methodology receive rotating trophies. This program has not only improved safety outcomes but also boosted employee morale and fostered a culture of trust and collaboration.

Our annual observances—such as Safety Week, Environment Week, and Road Safety Week—are large-scale initiatives that actively involve employees across the organization. These events include pledge ceremonies, hands-on workshops, and themed competitions that promote safety awareness. To deepen community engagement, many activities also feature special contests for employees’ families and children, reinforcing safety values beyond the workplace.

At Adani Wind, safety is not confined to our workplace—it’s a value we proudly promote throughout the broader community. Through meaningful outreach programs, we extend our commitment to well-being beyond our facilities. We organized impactful initiatives such as a beach clean-up drive to combat plastic pollution and the #RunForSafety marathon, which drew spirited involvement from employees, their families, children, making the event a remarkable success.

The effectiveness of our safety initiatives is clearly reflected in our performance metrics. From the beginning, we’ve recorded 10 million safe manhours, maintained a zero-fatality rate, and achieved a steady reduction in incident rate.

True success goes beyond statistics—it’s reflected in real-life experiences. For instance, a technician was able to prevent a serious incident, thanks to our proactive equipment health monitoring system. These moments remind us that safety is personal, and every action can protect loss.

Despite our achievements, we know that safety is a journey, not a destination. We continue to refine our processes, explore emerging technologies, and benchmark against industry leaders. Our next goal is to include more digitalization and analytics in safety systems.

Our journey has taught us that safety is not a cost—it’s an investment in our future and wellbeing.

As we look ahead, we remain committed to leading with care, learning from every challenge, and celebrating every milestone. Because at the end, a safe workplace is a thriving workplace—and that’s a success worth striving for every day.
